Notes for teachers:

This competition has been designed so that students are able to put forward any idea for any project that they have been working on within the materials area of:
Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles, Systems and Control and Electronics and IT

Students can find many ways to make their products more environmentally friendly.
• Understand the properties of the materials used and make changes
• Recycled materials
• Re-used materials
• Reduction in components
• Reduction in manufacturing process and time
• Re design to include less waste

Students should clearly state on their submissions sheet how their product has developed to become more environmentally friendly.
Students must annotate their drawings to include the product user and their need for the product.
To give some idea to the judges about the students’ project a short brief must be included.
3 x A3 presentation sheets must include a range of media. This can include pencil drawings, CAD, collage, paint, markers etc
Development work incorporating the competitions requirements is in line with the 2008 Technology curriculum and can assist in raising student’s grades.
Many schools are following government initiatives such as sustainable schools, healthy schools, every child matters and learning outside the classroom. Entry to Envired Eco design competition incorporates many aspects of these initiatives.
